What do you do on a Winter Day in Chelan?
Since we bought our vacation home in Chelan Hills several years ago, my hubby and I find ourselves spending more and more time in town than we ever thought we would. Of course, because I also work in the Chelan market and am a real estate Broker, I have more freedom and flexibility to travel East than my husband. After years of vacationing, I started to think about the investment potential afforded by all that the Valley has to offer. We first seriously started looking to invest in the Chelan market in the dead of Winter…and were looking at vacant land of all things. Why you ask?
Good question!
I guess you could say we were getting our feet frozen wet. Learning about pricing and communities…those that had waterfront amenities and those that didn’t. Where are vacation rentals allowed? Where are HOA restrictions in place even though zoning allows? Did we even want to rent our “Home Away from Home”? What about South Shore vs. North Shore personal preferences? We packed quite a bit into that long weekend and what I learned is that vacation home shopping is a process.
Chelan vacation home shopping is a process
In a resort town, you’re going to have quirky homes, amazingly over the top luxurious homes and many options that fall in between the two . Ultimately, we settled on a small cabin type of a house with a great big view and community waterfront amenities. My husband wasn’t totally “in” at first, but he soon came around.
So what do you do in Chelan on a beautiful winter day with a view of the snow covered Butte outside your door?
Well….if you’re my husband you build a great big fire in the woodstove, throw the french doors open and settle in for a catnap. .
No honey do’s on his list today obviously.
